In an announcement on Tuesday, Oct. 29, Connecticut postal officials said they will continue putting measures into place through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5 to "swiftly move" ballot mail and make sure votes are successfully delivered.
Some of these measures include making extra deliveries and collections; special pick-ups; and adding specialized sort plans at processing facilities to quicken deliveries to election boards.
Additionally, postal service officials said voters should try to mail their votes as soon as they can as a "good common sense measure," and try to do so before Election Day.
Mail-in voters should strive to mail their ballots at least a week before their election office needs them, and if they are due on Election Day, they should be mailed by Tuesday.
For this upcoming election, postal officials estimate a similar or better performance as the 2020 general election, during which 99.89 percent of ballots were mailed from voters to election officials within seven days.
On average, the postal service delivered ballots from voters to election officials in 1.6 days in 2020, officials added.
