Tip Leads To Arrest Of Stamford Multi-Strikes Felon With Illegal Gun, Ammo, Police Say
With help from a Crime Stoppers tip, narcotics investigators nabbed a multi-time convicted Fairfield County felon with an alleged illegal gun.
The incident took place in Stamford on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the area of Main and Clinton Avenues.
According to Assistant Chief of the Stamford Police Richard Conklin, detectives conducted a firearm investigation into Jermell “Polo” Sims, age 43, of Stamford, who was in possession of an illegal firearm.

The president of a Fairfield County church athletic club turned herself in to the police for allegedly embezzling more than $150,000 from the organization.
Daria Opolski, age 42, of Norwalk, was arrested by the Stamford Police Financial Crimes Unit on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
According to Capt. Thomas Scanlon, of the Stamford Police, an investigation revealed that from July 2021 through Dec. 2022, Opolski misallocated $157,508 from the Holy Name Athletic Club's bank account by authorizing transfers from the account to pay her personal bills.

A Fairfield County man has been charged with manslaughter in the Sept. 2022 death of his girlfriend following an investigation.
Anthony Ray Vines, Jr., age 41, of Stamford, was charged on Friday, Oct. 6 with one count of manslaughter with a firearm for the homicide of Mary Stephanie Guirand.
Guirand was 36 years old at the time of her death, said Capt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police.

Stamford Man Found Sleeping In Car With Pound Of Pot In Trumbull, Police Say
A man was found sleeping in his vehicle along with more than a pound of marijuana in Fairfield County, police said.
The incident took place in Trumbull around 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 on Woodridge Circle.
Enzo Aleman, age 19, of Stamford, was arrested after officers were called to investigate a vehicle with its engine running since the night before, said Lt. Brian Weir, of the Trumbull Police.

A Fairfield County man has been arrested after allegedly stealing checks from an acquaintance and then cashing them for $30,000.
Rodolfo Segura, age 35, of Norwalk, was charged with issuing a bad check on Thursday, Aug. 31 in Westport.
On Friday, May 5, the Westport Police Detective Bureau initiated an investigation after a resident reported several checks totaling more than $30,000 had been returned due to insufficient funds/account closed, said Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police.
