Most Snowfall Expected In These Areas This Winter: AccuWeather Releases Long-Range Outlook
AccuWeather meteorologists have just unveiled their forecast for the winter of 2024-25 and have released a map of where in the US the most snowfall is expected. In the image above, higher-than-average snowfall is predicted for those areas shown in light blue, with most areas in the Northeast are expected to receive more snow this season than last winter. Areas in the darker shade are expected to see below average snowfall in 2024-25, including in much of the Mid-Atlantic states. New Projected Track Released For Slow-Moving Weekend Storm
A new predicted track has been released by forecasters for a slow-moving storm that will move from west to east over the weekend. The timing for the storm is late Sunday night, Feb. 12 into Monday morning, Feb. 13. The latest projected path now has the bulk of the system staying south and not affecting areas farther north and inland, though there could be mixed precipitation in the New York City tristate area, according to the National Weather Service. Three Hospitalized After Head-On Hampden County Crash During Storm
Three people received minor injuries during a head-on crash during a snowstorm in Western Massachusetts. The crash took place in Hampden County around 9:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, near the intersection of Converse Street and Rugby Road in Longmeadow. When police arrived on the scene they found one of the vehicles on fire, but an officer was able to extinguish the flames, according to Longmeadow Police. Three people were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, police said.

The chances have increased for a potentially major snowstorm that will end the month of January and usher in February, bringing a half-foot or more of accumulation. 19-Car Pileup During Height Of Storm Among Hundreds Of Crashes Reported In Region
This story has been updated. A 19-car-pileup during the height of the Nor'easter was one of numerous storm-related crashes in the region, although most motorists stayed off roadways. At least six people were injured in the multi-vehicle crash that shut down part of the Henry Hudson Parkway in upper Manhattan Wednesday, Dec. 16 during the evening hours as the snow was beginning to pile-up. CT State Police Preparing For Major Nor'easter Bringing Heavy Snowfall, Strong Winds
As one of the strongest snowstorms in years heads for the region, the Connecticut State Police is warning drivers to be prepared and stay off the roadways if possible. The storm, which is forecast to arrive in the late afternoon on Wednesday, Dec. 16, is expected to dump up to a foot or more of snow and produce wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour.
