The son of a Gilgo Beach serial killer victim has sued accused murderer Rex Heuermann and his family, days before Heuermann pleaded guilty in eight slayings.
Benjamin Torres, the son of Valerie Mack, filed the wrongful death suit Monday, April 6 in Suffolk County, NY court, Newsday reported. Heuermann, 62, who pleaded guilty to Mack’s killing on Wednesday, April 8.

The wife of Rex Heuermann, the suspected Long Island Gilgo Beach killer, has reportedly filed for divorce less than a week after his arrest.
Heuermann, of the village of Massapequa Park in Nassau County, is charged with killing Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello and burying their bodies in a grassy area of Gilgo Beach, located in the town of Babylon in Suffolk County.
He's also a suspect in the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

DNA Technology Leads To Arraignment Of Serial Killer For 1968 Murder Of Woman At NY Mall
A 75-year-old convicted serial killer has been charged with the 1968 murder of a woman on Long Island in the parking lot of a popular mall thanks to DNA technology.
Richard Cottingham, of the South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton, New Jersey, was arraigned virtually on Wednesday, June 22, on a grand jury indictment, charging him with one count of murder, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
According to the investigation, Diane Cusick, age 23, then a resident of New Hyde Park, was an instructor at a dancing school in Oceanside.
