A Connecticut couple convicted of sexually abusing a trio of relatives — two of them kids — will spend years behind bars, authorities announced. Former Tolland County residents Carlos Rivera and Taina Rivera, both age 43, of Vernon, were sentenced to 20 years a piece in prison in what prosecutors called a series of "horrific" assaults, the Connecticut Department of Justice said. A Massachusetts man was sentenced to 40 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Nicholas Briggs, age 22, of Worcester, was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 30 by U.S. District Court Judge Timothy S. Hillman to prison time as well as three years of supervised release.
