225-Year-Old Historic CT Home Destroyed In Fire: 'A Work Of Art Is Gone' A historic Connecticut home built in 1800 went up in flames Sunday morning, Feb. 23, killing several cats and displacing a family, authorities said.  Firefighters were called to the 6,000-square-foot 139 Hartford Road home in Manchester just before 1 a.m. Crews from multiple companies battled the blaze for 40 minutes before getting the flames under control, Manchester authorities said.  No one was injured, but the home was left uninhabitable. Fire Breaks Out At Multi-Family Home In Fairfield County Nine people were left homeless following a fire that destroyed a multi-family residence in Fairfield County. The fire took place in Norwalk around 10:10 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 43 Lexington Ave. The fire started in the bedroom of the home and quickly spread to floors above, said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Steve Shay. There were nine occupants at home at the time of the fire and all escaped without injury, Shay said.
