21-Year-Old ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Motorcycle Crash A 21-year-old Connecticut man was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 8, in New London County after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, authorities said.  Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded near 33 Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, authorities said.  Paramedics rushed him to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.  The initial investigation revealed that Hummel had been riding a 2024 Kawasaki ZX-400 westbound on Fort Hill Road at a high rate of speed, police said. Dump Truck Driver Killed In Single-Vehicle CT Crash A Connecticut dump truck driver was killed and a passenger injured during a single-vehicle crash after hitting a tree. The crash took place in New London County around 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 in Groton. According to Capt. Greg McCarthy of the Groton Police, emergency dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a serious motor vehicle accident on Fort Hill Road in the area of Vergennes Court.  When officers arrived on the scene, they located a dump truck that had struck a tree on the south side of Fort Hill Road just east of Vergennes Court, McCarthy said.
