New Report Reveals How CT Politicians Keep Unclaimed Money From Public Billions of dollars in uncashed checks, forgotten insurance policies, and forgotten investments are being swept up by politicians in Connecticut, according to a new report from the CT Mirror. Between 2000 and 2021, the Connecticut Treasurer’s office reportedly colleges more than $2.3 billion through a state program that was initially created to return the unclaimed property and cash to investors. It looks like there is a new winner in an election that has already been called for a seat in the Connecticut State House.  Updated, unofficial results show that the winner of the 90th House District in the Nov. 3 election is incumbent Rep. Craig Fishbein, R-Wallingford. Previously, the win had been called for Democrat Jim Jinks. The updated vote tally has Fishbein beating Jinks by 21 votes, according to the CT Mirror. Town-By-Town Data On Absent Distance-Learning Students While distance learning appears to be going well in Connecticut, almost 10 percent of Hartford remote-learning students didn’t attend school the week of Sept. 21-25, the most recent information available. Of the 9,839 distance-learning students in the Hartford School District, 978 of them didn’t log in for school the week of Sept. 21, according to the CT Mirror, which has developed a weekly town-by-town look at distance-learning attendance records.
