New Canaan Counselor Ripped Off Medicaid For $80K, Officials Say
A Fairfield County counselor with a business in Stamford defrauded Medicaid by billing thousands in fraudulent claims for services he did not provide.
According to state judicial officials, Andrew R. Golden, age 56, of New Canaan, was sentenced to three years in prison, which was suspended, and five years of conditional discharge.
The judge ordered Golden to pay $80,328.19 in restitution and to not act as a Medicaid provider or provide services to any Medicaid recipient. Golden has paid the restitution, said officials with the state Division of Criminal Justice,

Bridgeport Police Officer Charged With Domestic Violence
A Fairfield County Police officer was charged with stalking and fear of safety, among other charges, in connection with a domestic violence case.
According to Capt. Kevin Gilleran of the Bridgeport Police Department, Officer Dani Soto, was arrested on Wednesday, July 3, following a criminal investigation that began in May into domestic violence allegations.
Soto, age 47, of Bridgeport, has been on administrative leave during the investigation.

A Fairfield County man has been charged with manslaughter in the Sept. 2022 death of his girlfriend following an investigation.
Anthony Ray Vines, Jr., age 41, of Stamford, was charged on Friday, Oct. 6 with one count of manslaughter with a firearm for the homicide of Mary Stephanie Guirand.
Guirand was 36 years old at the time of her death, said Capt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police.

A Connecticut man has been found guilty of killing another man on a playground in a robbery-murder plot.
Rickey Trayham, age 28, of New Haven, was found guilty on Wednesday, May 31 by a jury in New Haven of the murder of Rondell Atkinson on Monday, June 7, 2021, said New Haven State’s Attorney John Doyle, Jr.
According to evidence introduced at trial, Traynham shot Atkinson, age 33, of West Haven, during a robbery at the Pease Road Playground in Woodbridge.

Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced on Wednesday, May 24, that Servio Barros-Terreros, age 56, of Stamford sexually assaulted a girl when she was 9 and 10 years old.

A Stamford teen has been charged with allegedly severely injuring a woman during a robbery as she was leaving work.
Roberto Carlos Herrera-Aleman, age 18, was charged on Thursday, Jan. 26, with robbery in connection with the Wednesday, Jan. 11 incident in the area of 201 Broad St., near Ferguson Library, said Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin.
