CT Man Killed After Falling 16-Feet At Church Construction Project A 65-year-old man who fell 16-feet from scaffolding at a Waterbury church on Monday morning, Oct. 20, has died of his injuries, authorities said.  Waterbury first responders were. called to Our Lady of Lebanon, at 1544 Hamilton Ave., around 7:15 a.m. to reports of a man falling from a height of 16-feet and sustaining severe head damage, police said.  Alair Rosa Deoliveira, of Danbury, was taken to an area hospital for emergency care, but doctors could not save him, Waterbury police said.  The Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigate workplace death…

Worker Killed After Trench Collapses Behind CT Home; Police, Osha Investigating A Connecticut construction worker was killed after a trench for a sewer line he was working on collapsed on top of him.  Michael Dirocco, 60, was working at a home on Hamilton Court in Norwich around 6:15 p.m. on Friday, June 13, authorities said. He was working for a private company to dig the trench that stretched 90 feet and was five feet wide and deep. It was meant to connect the home to the city's sewer line.  The walls of the trench collapsed and trapped the Norwich man inside. Woman Falls 40 Feet From Fairfield County Bridge, Lands On Construction Barge A woman who was working on a Fairfield County bridge was seriously injured when she fell through a hole and landed 40 feet below on a construction barge. The incident took place in Stratford around 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Devon Bridge, said Robert Daniel, assistant chief/fire marshal for the Stratford Fire Department. Stratford Fire Rescue, along with Marine 233,  responded to the scene. Using Marine 233 moored alongside the barge, firefighters and Stratford EMS treated and stabilized the 55-year-old woman before using a rope rescue system to extricate the victim…

Worker Dies After Being Trapped In Trench In Westchester A Connecticut man from Fairfield County was killed in a construction accident in New York after being trapped 10 feet underground when a trench collapsed on top of him at a Westchester County worksite.
