A state park-sponsored canoe trip turned into tragedy when a Connecticut woman drowned when her craft overturned. The incident took place in Middlesex County on Saturday, Aug. 12 around 11:15 a.m., in the Hammonasset River in Clinton. Moose Rescued After Getting Stuck On Fence In Connecticut
Authorities in Connecticut rescued a moose after the animal became trapped on a fence. Wardens responded to a report of a moose stuck on a fence in the Litchfield County town of Barkhamsted at about midnight on Saturday, Oct. 1, according to Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. Officials said the moose was unable to get its back legs over the fence, and the animal's belly stopped it from being able to back up. Environmental conservation officers in Connecticut rescued a fox after the animal got its head stuck in a tire over the weekend. Authorities rescued a hawk that was found at a Connecticut pond with a fishing hook stuck in its wing. Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police responded to the pond in Mill Park in the Hartford County town of Newington to help a Cooper's hawk, officials reported on Sunday, July 31. Authorities waded into the water and cut a tree branch and a fishing lure off the wing of the hawk. Three men were issued more than $4,200 in fines after Connecticut officials reported that they far exceeded the daily limit for carp fishing.Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police reported on Monday, May 16, that officers in Middlesex County responded over the weekend to the CT River in Cromwell after receiving a report of three people fishing over the daily limit for carp. A deer who was tangled in some netting was recently saved by officers with the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. The incident took place on Sunday, Nov. 1, when several EnCon officers responded to the Veterans Memorial Soccer field in the town of Manchester on the report of a deer tangled in some netting, the department said.
