A four-day search for a 6-year-old boy who was swept into the Merrimack River has come to a close after a kayaker found a body authorities believe to be his. Massachusetts State Police announced that a body believed to be that of 6-year-old Mas DeChhat was located in the Pipers Quarry area of the river on the morning of Sunday, June 12. Mas' mother, identified as 29-year-old Boua DeChhat, of Lowell, also died while trying to save her son and 7-year-old daughter after they were swept away by the current in the area of Deer Island in Amesbury, officials said. Lightning strikes wreaked havoc overnight, as fire crews responded to multiple calls in less than an hour, including one causing a house fire. The Stamford Fire Department responded to four calls in an hour on Sunday, June 28, as a storm cell containing strong winds, lightning, and heavy rain moved through the region around 5 p.m., resulting in multiple emergency calls. Maryland police on Monday found the body of Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, the 40-year-old granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, who’d gone missing with her 8-year-old son in Chesapeake Bay late last week. McKean's body was recovered 25 feet of water about 2½ miles south of her mother’s Shady Side residence following a search involving aviation and underwater imaging sonar technology, police and dive crew members, Maryland Natural Resources Police announced late Monday.
