A man was arrested after allegedly shooting a security guard in the face with a pepper spray gun at a YMCA in Fairfield County.
Billy Pettway, of Bridgeport, was arrested around 11:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, at the State Street YMCA in Bridgeport.
According to Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport, officials originally were informed that the security guard was shot in the face with a BB gun, and police were immediately dispatched.

A Fairfield County man was arrested for allegedly attacking employees at an area fruit and smoothie shop after his son had an allergic reaction to peanuts and was hospitalized.
James Iannazzo, age 48, of Fairfield, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 22 after Fairfield Police received numerous calls from employees at Robeks, located at 2061 Black Rock Turnpike, reporting a customer throwing things, yelling at employees, and refusing to leave.

CT Teacher Assistant Nabbed With Handgun At School, Police Say
A Connecticut teacher's assistant was arrested for allegedly having a handgun while in school.
Sonnetta Powell, age 31, of North Haven, was arrested around noon on Friday, Jan. 14, by New Haven Police at the Katherine Brennan School.
According to Officer Scott Shumway, of the New Haven Police, officers were called to the school located at 200 Wilmot Road regarding a teacher's assistant that was in possession of a handgun.
Responding officers located Powell, who had the handgun on her person, Shumway said.
Powell is a legal Connecticut pistol permit holder, he added.

Man Starts Fire At Starbucks In Fairfield County, Fights Officers, Police Say
A man was arrested after allegedly starting a fire at a Starbucks in Fairfield County and then fighting with police.
Joseph Graff, age 26, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 10, after police responded to the coffee shop in Greenwich.
Once police arrived on the scene, they found that Graff had started a fire on the side of the building on Greenwich Avenue and began resisting arrest by running into the highway, blocking traffic, said Lt. Martin O'Reilly of the Greenwich Police.

Three Family Members Arrested In Connection To Fairfield County Road-Rage Incident
Three Fairfield County residents have been arrested in connection with a road-rage incident in which a man later died.
Emanuel Matias, age 25, of Stamford, was arrested for manslaughter Wednesday, Dec. 8, said Lt. Tom Scanlon, of the Stamford Police.
Matias, who has been in custody since the Wednesday, Nov. 17 incident, when he was charged with assault on the 71-year-old Michael Frank Gentile, of Stamford, when he allegedly attempted to run them off Cold Spring Road.
Gentile died two days later, from what medical officials said was blunt force trauma.

A Fairfield County man has been issued a misdemeanor summons for "annoying" a woman at an area grocery store by asking her if she was free.
Claude Davis, age 48, of the Town of Fairfield, was charged on Wednesday, Nov. 17, with breach of peace after he allegedly grabbed the woman by her arm as she was walking into the Stop & Shop at 760 Villa Ave., in Fairfield.
