Threat Grows For Hurricane Lee To Be Rare Significant Storm To Hit Mass As meteorologists predict a possible New England landfall for Hurricane Lee, the prospect is bringing memories of other past storms that slammed into Massachusetts throughout the 20th century.  According to the latest computer models from the National Weather Service, Hurricane Lee may make landfall in eastern Maine on Monday morning, Sept. 18, bringing powerful winds, heavy rains, and high surf along with it and possibly devastating parts of Eastern Massachusetts. White Shark Tracking East After Pinging Off Long Island Coast A large white shark apparently loves Long Island and New England and has decided to stay awhile. For the second time in a one-week span, Frosty has pinged in the Atlantic, and it's apparently moving east. Measuring 9-feet, 2 inches, and weighing 393 pounds, Frosty pinged south of Hampton Bays at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, May 13, according to the non-profit Ocearch group. A new ping was reported on Sunday, May 21 at about 4:30 a.m. in between Block Island and Martha's Vineyard. (See the first image above.) Southport Teen Killed In Block Island Crash Remembered As 'Rising Star' With 'Perpetual Smile' Friends and family of a 16-year-old student-athlete in Fairfield County remembered him fondly following his death in a crash on Block Island earlier this week. Southport resident Jackson (Jake) Panus died on Sunday, Aug. 9, when his allegedly intoxicated driver was involved in a fatal crash in Rhode Island.
