Officials at some of the largest colleges in Connecticut are still mulling their options for the next academic year as they continue online classes amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
According to officials, it is unclear when in-person classes will be permitted to start again, as the country continues practicing social distance protocols.
As they look for contingency plans and guidance from health officials, colleges that include UConn, Yale, Wesleyan, Trinity, and Central Connecticut State, have not announced final decisions about how the fall semester will proceed, leaving questions for parents, students, and staff members.
When classes do resume, Brown University President Christina Paxson said that whenever classes do resume, students can expect big changes to their life on campus.
She said that students may be required to wear masks on campus, and large lecture classes may be held online as a precaution. Sports may be played without fans in the stands, there could be virtual social activities, and recital halls that host events may have viewers separated by several seats.
