Breaking Parts On E-Bikes Create Crash Dangers, Prompting Nationwide Recall
Thousands of electric bicycles sold across the US are being recalled because a part could break while riding, causing crashes. Giant Bicycle issued the recall for about 6,200 Momentum Vida E+ e-bikes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 10. The recall comes after four reports of broken fork steerer tubes, although no injuries have been reported. The e-bikes were sold from September 2019 through May 2025. CT DOT Warns Of Treacherous Roads; Crashes Reported Across State From Icy Conditions
The Connecticut State Department of Transportation is asking drivers to take extra precautions to protect themselves while driving because of icy roads. Gov. Ned Lamont ordered the state into its severe cold weather protocol that will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and run through noon Thursday. 21-Year-Old ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Motorcycle Crash
A 21-year-old Connecticut man was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 8, in New London County after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, authorities said. Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded near 33 Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, authorities said. Paramedics rushed him to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
