Breaking Parts On E-Bikes Create Crash Dangers, Prompting Nationwide Recall Thousands of electric bicycles sold across the US are being recalled because a part could break while riding, causing crashes. Giant Bicycle issued the recall for about 6,200 Momentum Vida E+ e-bikes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 10. The recall comes after four reports of broken fork steerer tubes, although no injuries have been reported. The e-bikes were sold from September 2019 through May 2025. They were available at authorized Giant dealers nationwide and online for $2,500 to $3,200, according to the CPSC. Ned Lamont ordered the state into its severe cold weather protocol that will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and run through noon Thursday.  Those cold temperatures have wreaked havoc on several roads across the state. 21-Year-Old ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Motorcycle Crash A 21-year-old Connecticut man was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, Nov. 8, in New London County after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, authorities said.  Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded near 33 Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, authorities said.  Paramedics rushed him to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.  The initial investigation revealed that Hummel had been riding a 2024 Kawasaki ZX-400 westbound on Fort Hill Road at a high rate of speed, police said.
