Body of Missing Kayaker Recovered In CT River After 2-Week Search: 'Our Family Is Heartbroken' Searchers have recovered the body of a 27-year-old kayaker who fell into the Connecticut River earlier this month when his craft capsized while fishing with his girlfriend, authorities said. Niklas Delisle, of Chicopee, went missing on May 19 after falling into the water south of the Holyoke Dam. His body was recovered on Friday, May 30, according to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office. A fisherman who witnessed the kayak capsize rescued Delisle’s girlfriend from the water, saving her from drowning. She was hospitalized after the incident. Police ID Body Found In Connecticut River In Rocky Hill As Woman Missing Since March A 72-year-old woman reported missing in March was found dead in the Connecticut River in Rocky Hill earlier this week, authorities announced on Thursday, May 1.  Mary Colasanto was reported missing from her home in Glastonbury on Welles Street in late March.  A boater contacted police around 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, to report finding a body in the water. Authorities identified her on Wednesday as Colasanto.  Glastonbury police are investigating the incident. Police did not disclose the cause of death. Funeral services for Colasanto were unclear as of Thursday.

More than 300,000 gallons of untreated sewage are expected to flow into the river each day until the line can be repaired, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said.
