CT Teen Driver Hit 137 MPH In Failed Attempt To Outrun Police: Cops
A Connecticut teenager is behind bars after leading New Hampshire State Troopers on a 30-mile high-speed chase that topped out at 137 mph, authorities said. Thomas C. Smart, 18, of Goshen, was clocked speeding 95 mph in a 55 mph zone on Monday, Jan. 20, on Route 16 in Dover. When troopers tried to stop his 2013 BMW 335xi, Smart hit the gas instead, leading police on a 15-minute pursuit that peaked at speeds nearing 140 mph, officials said. 69-Year-Old CT Woman ID'd As Victim In Fatal Crash After Van Hits Tree
A 69-year-old Connecticut woman was killed earlier this week when her car went off of a road and crashed into a tree, police said. Jen Webster, of Storrs, lost control of her Honda Odyssey on Chaffiteeville Road in Mansfield a little after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and hit a tree, Connecticut State Police said. Officials pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities are not sure what caused her to veer from the road. School Bus Involved In Crash With Car In Vernon
A Connecticut middle school bus was involved in a crash this week with 15 students on board, authorities said. The crash was reported just after 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, near South Street and Crown Street in Vernon. The school bus and the car were damaged in the wreck. A Connecticut man has been charged with intentionally driving into and killing his friend's boyfriend during an argument, authorities said. The woman, who was in the car at the time of the crash, was also arrested.
