A 40-year-old Willimantic man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the 2023 murder of Joyce Grayson, a well-loved visiting nurse from Brooklyn, Connecticut, authorities said.
Michael Reese pleaded guilty to the charge of murder on Friday, Aug. 8, after he killed Grayson, 63, while she was providing care to him at a halfway house for sexual offenders on October 28, 2023, the Office of State's Attorney said. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a 52-year-old Brazilian national who was convicted in Connecticut of sexual assault, unlawful restraint, and violating a restraining order, authorities said.
Emerson Eduardo Ferreira was taken into custody on Jan. 24, in Brooklyn, CT, after being released from state custody, ICE officials said.

A Pennsylvania man was sentenced to 26 years, nine months to 56 years, 10 months in state prison for causing the high-speed hit-and-run crash that killed a Connecticut couple in Bucks County last February.
John Thomas Wadlinger Jr., 32, of Bensalem, received the sentence from Common Pleas Judge C. Theodore Fritsch on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at the Bucks County Justice Center.
