Watch Wanted CT Woman Crash Into Police Cruisers Before High-Speed Chase In Lisbon: Cops

A high-speed chase that started on Route 2 and ended with a suspect hiding under a deck has landed an Old Saybrook woman behind bars with a $500,000 bond, according to Connecticut State Police.

Electra Chiulli, 33, who had an active warrant, was spotted by troopers a little after 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, on Route 2 in Bozrah after officers noticed her black Subaru Legacy missing a front license plate and swerving between lanes. When police ran her information, they discovered Chiulli was already wanted for leading Old Saybrook police on a previous pursuit, authorities said.

Troopers followed Chiulli until she pulled into a gas station on Route 97 in Norwich. Because of her history of fleeing police, officers attempted a box-in maneuver. Chiulli refused to exit the car, and as officers tried to remove her, she put the sstedan into gear and rammed a State Police cruiser. She then reversed, hitting a fuel pump, before hitting the gas again and striking another police vehicle, forcing her way out of the parking lot, police said.

Chiulli then sped onto I-395 North with officers in pursuit. She exited at Exit 19 and continued onto Route 169 but lost control on Strnad Road in Lisbon, slamming into a guardrail. She jumped from the wreckage and ran, police said.

Witnesses told officers that Chiulli had sprinted behind a nearby home. Police set up a perimeter, and with the help of a Montville Police K9 team, officers found her hiding under a deck on Strnad Road. She was taken into custody without further incident, but police said they also discovered "numerous bundles of suspected narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia" near where she was found.

Chiulli was taken to a local hospital for treatment and remains in State Police custody. She is facing a lengthy list of charges, including engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, criminal mischief, and possession of narcotics, police said. She was unable to post her half-a-million-dollar bond.
