Troopers from Troop F – Westbrook were conducting routine traffic enforcement around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they spotted a white Acura TL with a Connecticut registration on Route 9 southbound in Deep River. A check of the plate revealed that it was not registered to any motor vehicle, police said. CT Driver ID'd As Victim In Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash On Route 9 Police have identified the 61-year-old man who was killed on Thursday, Jan. 2, when his car crashed on Route 9, authorities said.  Francisco Alves Ribeiro, of Danbury, was driving south around 6 a.m. when his Honda Accord left the roadway and crashed into a tree in the grass median near Exit 19, Connecticut State Police said.  Police closed the highway for several hours as they cleaned, cleared, and investigated the scene. Serious Rollover Crash Shuts Route 9 In Haddam Route 9 in Haddam was closed Thursday morning, Jan. 2 for a serious crash, officials said. CT State Police said the crash involved a one-vehicle rollover in the southbound lanes near Exit 15. Serious injuries were reported. The highway is closed for investigation. Anyone traveling through the area is urged to seek an alternative route, police said.

Paul Krampitz didn't look like a preacher, but his friends and colleagues said he was built for it.   Middlesex County resident Paul Krampitz, age 65, of Cromwell, was killed Thursday, Sept. 18, when a car crashed into his Harley Davidson motorcycle around 4:15 p.m. near Exit 33 on Route 9 in Berlin, Connecticut State Police said.
