A major hurricane is expected to develop in the Gulf Coast as extremely warm water temperatures and low wind shear will speed up its development. The timing for formation in the western Caribbean is between Thursday, Nov. 14, and Monday, Nov. 18, according to AccuWeather. Oscar is now moving north after making landfall in eastern Cuba as a Category 1 hurricane. It's now a tropical storm on landfall on Sunday evening, Oct. 20 in eastern Cuba, where heavy rain will continue causing life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides on Monday, Oct. 21, according to the National Hurricane Center. New Projected Timing Released For Potentially Major Hurricane Taking Aim At US
The projected timing for a potentially major hurricane taking aim at the US coast has been updated and is earlier than some initial projections. AccuWeather is forecasting a powerful Category 3 hurricane with maximum sustained wind gusts of 110 to 130 miles per hour to make landfall along the Gulf Coast on Thursday, Sept. 26, likely in the Big Bend on Florida's west coast. “This is expected to be a large hurricane with a major storm surge threat and impacts that will reach hundreds of miles inland from where this storm makes landfall,” said AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jon Porter. …
