Brooklyn Man Killed After Car Slams Into Tree On Route 44 Curve In Pomfret A 39-year-old man is dead after his car veered off a highway and crashed into a tree in Pomfret, according to Connecticut State Police. William Horton Enright, of Brooklyn, was driving early Wednesday morning, March 18, on a stretch of Route 44 known for its curves, authorities said.  Connecticut State Police said Enright was driving east when he misjudged one, went off the road, and hit a tree.
