A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. A nationwide recall of meat and poultry products over fears they may be contaminated with Listeria has been expanded to include 11,765,285 pounds. Residents across the Northeast were dazzled by the Northern Lights, visible Thursday evening, Oct. 10. The purple and pink lights were visible due to a Solar Storm, or a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun on Tuesday, Oct. 8 which arrived in the area Thursday. Greenwich Ferrari Heist: Teen, Man Accused Of Stealing Multiple Luxury Cars
A Connecticut teen and 22-year-old man with long criminal histories are accused of stealing a $575,000 Ferrari from Greenwich and later an Acura from New York, authorities said. It's not the first time they've been linked to a stolen luxury vehicle. Keon Webster, 18, and Dion Schontten, 22, both of Waterbury, are charged with stealing a motor vehicle, authorities said. This is Schotten's second time he's been charged with that crime and Webster's seventh, Waterbury police said.
