A spokesperson for the home improvement chain confirmed the closings to Daily Voice on Monday, April 7. The Easter holiday falls on Sunday, April 20.

The closure applies to all Lowe's stores nationwide.

"This day off will give our associates the opportunity to spend some extra time with their loved ones," the spokesperson said. "It's a way to show appreciation to Lowe’s associates for their dedication to serving our customers."

This marks the sixth straight year the home improvement chain has given a day off to employees on Easter.

"I'm extremely proud of the commitment of our 300,000 associates who support our communities while providing excellent customer service not only in spring – but all year-round," Lowe's CEO and chair Marvin Ellison said in an April 2023 news release. "In recognition of our teams' continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones."

The Lowe's website will remain open for online shopping. Lowe's main competitor Home Depot will keep its stores open on Easter.

Founded in North Carolina in 1921, Lowe's had 1,751 US stores as of Monday, March 17, according to data company ScrapeHero.
