CT Resident Among 9 Nabbed During Illegal Racing Event In New Jersey: Police Nine people were arrested and charged with eluding during an illegal car racing event in Newark on Sunday, Sept. 15, authorities said. At 2:31 a.m., police responded to Doremus Avenue and Port Street on a report of several vehicles driving erratically in the middle of the street, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Police observed 100 vehicles illegally blocking Doremus Avenue, Fragé said.  A large crowd surrounded a Newark police car, punching and kicking it, attempting to flip it over, Fragé said. Duo Nabbed In Jewelry Store Burglaries Targeting Hudson Valley Businesses Two suspects are behind bars in connection with a string of jewelry store burglaries that targeted businesses in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. In Dutchess County, police were called at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, for a burglary in progress in Beacon at Sky Diamond Jewelers on Main Street. As officers arrived, the suspects were seen driving away from the scene.  Officers initially pursued the vehicle onto the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge but called off the chase “due to the unsafe speeds,” Beacon Police said. Woman Charged With Elder Abuse At Care Center In Fairfield County A woman who worked as an aide at a Fairfield County care center has been charged with elder abuse after allegedly ignoring a man all night who had fallen out of bed. The incident occurred in Norwalk in November 2023 at the Fairfield Family Care Center. According to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police, an investigation found that an older man was left unattended and injured after falling out of his bed during the overnight hours.  Detectives collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and determined that New Jersey resident Lydia Lungile, age 40, of Newark, was the …
