Machete-Wielding Man Screaming At Strangers Shot, Killed: Police A 56-year-old Connecticut man was shot and killed after shouting at strangers in an apartment building and waving a machete, authorities said.  John Reynolds, of New Haven, was killed around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, in the Bella Vista Apartments at 321 Eastern St. in New Haven, police said.  Several people called 911 to report Reynolds was banging on apartment doors and waving a machete, authorities said.  When police arrived, Reynolds had been shot and killed by a resident following a fight, officials said. Trumbull Resident Scares Off Would-Be Robbers With Paintball Gun, Police Say A Fairfield County homeowner scared away would-be robbers by shooting them with a paintball gun, according to police. The incident occurred in Trumbull on Thursday, Aug. 8, around 9:30 p.m. on Kneht Farm Road. According to the Trumbull Police on Facebook, the resident called the police and reported that after returning home, they were met in the driveway by an unknown suspect who told them to hand over their belongings as he raised his arm and pointed at the resident. New Haven County resident Nick Donofrio, age 20, of Madison, was found dead having suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body, on the front porch of a home in Columbia, South Carolina on the 500 block of South Holly Street around 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, the city's police department said. Woman Fatally Stabs Man In Fairfield County In Self Defense During Robbery, Police Say A woman fatally stabbed a man in Fairfield County while defending herself as he tried to rob her of drugs, according to police. Officers responded to a report that a man was stabbed at a Bridgeport residence located at 256 Cottage St. at about 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6. Bridgeport Police said 48-year-old Victor Cruz suffered a stab wound to his back, and was taken to a hospital.
