Volunteer CT Firefighter Struck, Killed After Trunk-Or-Treat Event A 69-year-old volunteer Connecticut firefighter was killed when he was struck while crossing a dark roadway following a Halloween event. The incident took place in New London County at 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29 on Route 354,  also known as Old Colchester Road, in the town of Salem. Willis Sands, a member of the Gardner Lake Volunteer Fire Company, was walking across the street to his house, said the Connecticut State Police. Second Arrest Made In Drug Overdose Death Of 1-Year-Old CT Girl A Connecticut man has been charged in connection with the death in February of a 1-year-old girl who died from an overdose of fentanyl and other drugs. New London County resident Travis J. Schubel, 38, of Salem was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 28, by Waterford police during a traffic stop, Connecticut State Police said. The child's mother, Ricki Thomas, age unknown, also of Salem was previously arrested on Thursday, Nov. 3, and is currently being held at the York Correctional Institution on a $2 million bond on a manslaughter charge.  The child died on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at the couple's…
