Severe Thunderstorm Watch Now In Effect For Westchester
As a potent system with scattered severe storms sweeps through, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been issued for much of the region. It's in effect until midnight Sunday, Aug. 13. The main threat is for damaging wind gusts and large hail, the National Weather Service said, adding that isolated tornadoes are possible, mainly north and west of New York City. An approaching cold front will ignite a round of thunderstorms, some of which may be severe. The time frame for scattered storm activity moving from the west to the east on Saturday, Aug. 12 is from about the middle of the afternoon through the evening when the chance will increase.
