Boy, 5, Who Fell Into Connecticut River Has Died; Police ID Him The 5-year-old boy who fell into the Connecticut River in Middlesex County last week while kayaking has died, authorities said.  Jaxon Podbielski, of Higganum, was kayaking with an adult and fell into the water around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct 26, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said. It's unclear how long he remained in the water before rescuers pulled him out.  WTNH reported the child suffered pediatric cardiac arrest when he was pulled from the water. 1 Rescued From CT River After Kayak Capsizes One person was rescued from a Connecticut river after their kayak capsized as dusk approached. The incident occurred in New Haven County around 7:50 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, in the Quinnipiac River in North Haven. Police Save Two Kayakers Being Swept Away By Current Off Fairfield County Coast Two kayakers whose vessels overturned and were being swept away by the current were rescued by a Fairfield County police marine unit. The incident took place around 12:40 p.m., Monday, Jan. 18, in the Town of Fairfield. The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a kayaker on the Long Island Sound requesting assistance after he and his friend’s kayaks overturned and were swept away by the current.  According to Sgt.
