A popular Connecticut zoo has announced the tragic death of a much-loved golden lion tamarin who died after an unviable birth. On Thursday, March 7, The Beardsley Zoo, located in the Fairfield County city of Bridgeport, announced the death of Cricket, a 6-year-old golden lion tamarin. According to the zoo, Cricket died immediately after an unviable birth. Per the zoo's standard practices and procedures, a post-mortem examination was then conducted at the site and samples were sent for further testing, a spokesperson said. A popular Connecticut zoo is having a bananas time after welcoming two new spider monkeys. On Thursday, July 28, Beardsley Zoo, located in Fairfield County, announced the arrival of two female Black-handed spider monkeys, expanding its spider monkey habitat to four monkeys. Bertha, age 30, and 16-year-old Janet traveled from the Montgomery Zoo in Alabama to join the zoo in Bridgeport. The piglets were born on Saturday, April 9, at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo in the Fairfield County city of Bridgeport, the zoo announced on Thursday, April 14.
