The Tolland County incident began on the night of Tuesday, May 7 in the town of Willington. According to Connecticut State Police, a woman went to visit 29-year-old Jonathan Yokabaskas, her relative, where he lived in a tent off Ruby Road. Winning $3 Million Lottery Ticket Sold In Connecticut A lucky winner purchased a winning Mega Millions ticket at a gas station in Granby.  The winning ticket, valued at $3 million dollars, was purchased on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the Cumberland Farms in Granby located at 19 Hartford Ave., according to the CT Lottery.  The name of the fortunate person who bought the ticket was not announced. Because the Mega Millions jackpot was not won though, it now stands at $1.35 billion for the next drawing, which will be held on the unlucky date of Friday, Jan. 13.

Police Identify 19-Year-Old Killed In Fiery CT Crash Authorities have identified a 19-year-old driver who was killed in a fiery crash on I-91 in Connecticut. Hartford County resident Owen Contreras, of Granby, was identified on Tuesday, Aug. 16, as the driver who died in the crash in East Windsor on Sunday, Aug. 14, according to Connecticut State Police. Police said the crash happened at about 11:20 p.m. near Exit 44 when a southbound 2017 Kenworth truck and another southbound vehicle driven by Contreras collided in the right lane, causing a fire to engulf both vehicles. Hartford County resident David McManus, age 56, of Granby, pleaded guilty in Bridgeport federal court to fraud and tax offenses stemming from his embezzlement of funds from his former company. Just before 7:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, Eversource is reporting 1,275 customers without power. Colebrook in Litchfield County (266), Granby (202) in Hartford County, Torrington in Litchfield County (201) have the most outages. United Illuminating is reporting just four outages.
