A Schenectady woman was busted after she falsely claimed to find a sewing needle inside Halloween candy, sparking panic on social media, police said.
Christi Hosier, 27, was arrested Monday, Nov. 3, after investigators determined her report of a needle in Halloween candy was fabricated, according to Scotia Police.
Hosier posted about the supposed discovery in the “Scotia Glenville Current Events” Facebook group, sparking widespread concern among parents before contacting police to formally report it, police said.

The mother of a 3-year-old girl who sparked an Amber Alert out of Delaware is now charged with murder after the child’s body was found dumped in Maryland, state police announced.
Darrian Randle, 31, of North East, told police she had pulled over on Gender Road in Newark, Delaware, around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, to comfort her daughter, Nola Dinkens, when a white man with a gun kidnapped the girl and took off in a dark SUV.

A Fairfield County man is behind bars after allegedly reporting a kidnapping and armed robbery in the parking lot of a Stop & Shop.
Danbury resident Diego Vizhco, age 38, was charged on Wednesday, Sept. 27, for falsely reporting a robbery on Newtown Road on Sunday, Sept. 10, at the store on Newtown Road.
