Hartford Yard Goats Add Thunder, Feathers: See Their 2025 Alternate Identity From pickles to bugs, the Hartford Yard Goats have had quirky alternate names but the newest brand should gobble up some attention. The Hartford Yard Goats will play a game in the 2025 season as the "Hartford Thunder Chickens," the team announced on Thursday, Jan. 30. The minor league club will use the alternate identity at Dunkin' Park against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Thursday, May 29. The name "Thunder Chicken" comes from the loud, rumbling gobble of wild turkeys, which are common in Connecticut. There are an estimated 35,000 wild turkeys in the Constitution State. Services Set For CT Police Officer Killed In Line Of Duty Police in Connecticut are planning to lay to rest one of their own killed in a violent car crash by an alleged speeding driver. Hartford Police Detective Robert (Bobby) Garten, age 34, was killed and another officer was severely injured around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, near Asylum Avenue and Cogswell Street, when a speeding driver ran a red light and slammed into his police cruiser, Hartford Police said.
