A Stamford man was being a nice husband by going out to grab his wife a cup of coffee at his regular spot, Cove Convenience before she went to work.
While getting the coffee the store owner mentioned how there were two CASH5 winners for the Monday, May 15 game and that he should check his numbers as they sounded familiar, said Connecticut Lottery officials.
Melvin Karlsen, of Stamford, a regular CASH5 player, plays the same numbers regularly – 4, 6, 8, 14, 15 – representing the birthdays of his children, himself, and his wife.

The top-prize-winning CASH5 ticket was sold in Westbrook on Friday, March 24, and earned an unnamed lottery player $100,000 more than they had the day before, Connecticut Lottery announced on Monday, March 27.
The lucky winner bought the ticket at JoJo's Food Mart, located at 1309 Boston Post Rd. (US Route 1).
According to Connecticut Lottery, the odds of winning CASH5 are 1 in 72.1.

A winning lottery ticket valued at $825,000 was sold at a Connecticut store.
An unnamed Massachusetts resident, from Worcester, claimed the "$1,000,000 Emeralds" prize from a ticket sold in Windham County, Connecticut Lottery announced on Monday, Aug. 22.
The ticket was purchased in the town of Thompson at the XtraMart, located at 9 Woodstock Ave., CT Lottery said.

A Fairfield County man has claimed a $300,000 lottery prize.
Ronald Battaglia, of Stratford, won the prize from Connecticut Lottery's $1,000,000 Golden Riches game, CT Lottery announced on Thursday, July 7.
The winning ticket was purchased at Greenwich Cigar & Stationary, which is located at 91 Railroad Ave. in Greenwich, the lottery said.
CT Lottery also announced that an unnamed Trumbull resident claimed a $100,000 CASH5 prize from a ticket purchased at City Gas, located at 289 Huntington Turnpike in Bridgeport.

Sevens were wild for a pair of lucky CT Lottery players who cashed in winning tickets worth big prizes.
In New Haven County, Wallingford resident Cynthia Jackson won $77,000 playing "Mega 7s" on a ticket sold at Nisa's Variety on East Center Street in Wallingford, lottery officials announced on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Later that week, on Thursday, Jan. 20, a winning $277,777 "Mega 7s" prize was cashed in by Westerly, Rhode Island resident Mark Britton that was sold at the Bestway Convenience on Libert Street in Pawcatuck in New London County.

A Connecticut couple celebrated their $100,000 lottery prize with dinner and an engagement.
Tom Heltzel, of Litchfield, purchased a Quick Pick at Cumberland Farms #4590 in Torrington for each of the day's draw games on Tuesday, Dec. 14, according to Connecticut Lottery.

A Connecticut man had been playing his "family birthday" numbers for years in the state lottery, and Wednesday, Sept. 8, was his lucky day.
New Haven County resident Jim Smith, of Naugatuck, won the $100,000 top prize in the Cash5 game.
