Vegetables, Bagged Salads Sold In 18 States Recalled Due To Listeria Concerns
A recall for a brand of vegetables and bagged salads has been expanded to 18 states due to possible Listeria contamination. Ohio-based Wiers Farm began its investigation in response to the Michigan Department of Agriculture's original findings, which led to the expansion. Products in the expanded recall were packed between Friday, July through Friday, July 12. Big Lots To Close Pair Of NY Stores
Discount retail chain Big Lots plans to close around 40 stores this year, according to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC). It currently has around 1,425 stores nationwide. Rachel Minaya, who is married to former Mets general manager and current Yankees executive Omar Minaya, was found dead in their New Jersey home over the weekend, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Monday afternoon. 2 Dead, 28 Sickened In Multistate Deli Meat Listeria Outbreak, CDC Says
Two people died, and dozens of others sickened in a Listeria outbreak tied to deli meats in several states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twenty-eight people across 12 states had been sickened between late May and mid-July, the CDC says. The deaths occurred in New Jersey and Illinois, health officials said. All 28 individuals had been hospitalized as of Friday, July 19. Bob's Stores, the family apparel and shoe retailer, will close all of its 21 locations throughout the Northeast after the company said it is bankrupt. A Florida-based company is recalling whole cucumbers that were shipped to 14 states, but may be contaminated with Salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.
