Ex-CT Police Chief Dies After Long Illness: 'To Know Him Was To Know Love' The longest-serving police chief in Connecticut history died last week at his home surrounded by his family, police in Hartford County said.  Former Windsor Police Chief Kevin C. Searles fought a long battle with dementia and died from the disease on Thursday, Nov. 7, his obituary said.  Searles worked for the Plainville Police Department, rising to the rank of detective, before taking the top cop job in Windsor in 1987. He held the position for 28 years.  He stepped down in December 2014 for medical reasons.  His family said he became a police officer because of …

Man Killed After Car Veers From I-91 Off Ramp, Crashes Into Tree A 37-year-old Connecticut man was killed Sunday morning, Sept. 22, after his car careened into a tree along I-91 in Hartford County, police said.  Daniel Adam Jeannotte, of Enfield, died around 2:30 a.m. when his vehicle veered off of the Exit 40 off-ramp in Windsor, Connecticut State Police said.  It's unclear why, but Jeannotte's car went off the left side of the off-ramp, over the shoulder, and crashed into a tree, authorities said.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Trooper DeMaio at (860) 534-1098 …

Fatal Crash: 21-Year-Old Woman ID'd As Victim On I-91 A 21-year-old Connecticut woman was killed in a crash on a stretch of I-91. It happened around 5:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 in Windsor. A 2007 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling on the southbound Exit 35A off-ramp when it veered into the left shoulder and hit a metal guardrail, according to Connecticut State Police.  Both the operator, a 33-year-old Manchester man, and the passenger, identified as Valerie Ann Eaton of Hartford, were ejected from the motorcycle. 33-Year-Old ID'd As Victim Of Multi-Vehicle CT Crash A 33-year-old Connecticut man was killed in a three-vehicle crash on I-91. The collision occurred in Hartford County around 11:20 p.m., Monday, June 10, in the northbound lane south of Exit 38 in Windsor. According to Connecticut State Police, Jonathan Scott Schlagel, of Enfield, was driving a 2000 Triumph Sprint RS when he hit the rear of a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500. Schlagel was ejected from the motorcycle, state police said. He was then struck by a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV that was behind the pickup truck and the motorcycle.
