Westport Man Charged In Jan. 6 Attack On US Capitol
A Connecticut man has been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges, including assaulting law enforcement, related to his actions during the breach of the US Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.
Fairfield County resident Benjamin Cohen, age 21, of Westport, was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 9 in Westport, said the US Department of Justice.
Cohen was charged in a criminal complaint filed in the District of Columbia with civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers, both felony offenses.

5 Fairfield County Restaurants Ordered To Pay Over $858K To Employees: Feds
Following a federal investigation, a total of six Connecticut restaurants and their owners have been ordered to pay over $858,000 in back wages and liquidated damages to employees, officials said.
The restaurants, including five Fairfield County establishments and one in New Haven County, were ordered to pay back wages, withheld tips, and liquidated damages to 105 employees following an investigation and litigation conducted by the US Department of Labor, which announced the order on Tuesday, July 25.

A victim lived through a day of fear and assaults at the hands of a Connecticut man the person knew, according to authorities.
On Wednesday, July 5, Norwalk Police received a complaint that New Haven County resident Enrique Rivas-Castillo, age 23, of Ansonia, had threatened the victim over the phone, said Lt. Joe Dinho, of the Norwalk Police.
Investigating officers learned that on Monday, July 3, Rivas-Castillo was at the victim’s residence in Norwalk and threatened to assault the victim.

DUI Crash: 34-Year-Old Westport Woman Hits Guardrail, Fence, Police Say
A local woman was charged with DUI after allegedly driving into a guardrail and then hitting a fence in Fairfield County.
Charlotte Singer, age 34, of Westport, was arrested on Sunday, July 2 around 8:45 p.m. in Westport.
According to Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police, officers responded to the area of Kings Highway North and Canal Park for a one-car crash.
