The positive COVID-19 infection rate continues to rise in Connecticut, which reported nearly two dozen new deaths in the past week.
In the latest update on Thursday, May 5, the state Department of Public Health reported 18 more COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the total up to 10,858 since March 2020.

Man Killed In Two-Vehicle I-84 Crash, CT State Police Say
One Connecticut man is dead and another seriously injured after one of the vehicles crossed the center-median into oncoming traffic on I-84, according to authorities.
The crash took place in New Haven County in Middlebury on I-84 around 7 a.m., Thursday, April 7, said the Connecticut State Police.
John Paul Dowling, age 72, of Naugatuck was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
