Stop & Shop Launches Own Coffee Brand With These 7 Varieties
Stop & Shop is introducing its own private-label coffee brand in days.
The seven new varieties of its "Taste of Inspirations" are Bold Barista, Cozy Cabin, Dawn’s Dance, Smoky Symphony, Sunrise Solace, Tropical Twist, and Mellow Moonlight (decaf).
They are available at the supermarket's 360 stores in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Rhode Island starting this weekend, in time for National Coffee Day, on Sunday, Sept. 29.
All flavors are made with 100 percent premium Arabica beans.

Apple juice sold at Walmart has been recalled due to high arsenic levels.
The US Food and Drug Administration says 9,535 cases of the company's Great Value brand 100 percent apple juice were sold in six-packs of 8-ounce plastic bottles bearing this expiration date: Best if Used by DEC2824 CT89-6, and a UPC code of 0-78742-29655-5.
According to the FDA, the product contains inorganic arsenic above the action level set in industry guidance (13.2 parts per billion).

Popular Frozen Meat Pizza Product Recalled Due To Misbranding, Undeclared Allergens
A popular frozen pizza product sold in the Northeast has been recalled due to misbranding and undeclared allergens.
802 VT Frozen, a Newport, Vermont, establishment, said the recall involves approximately 8,220 pounds of its frozen meat pizza.
The product contains soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Friday, April 26.
The produced was made from April 25, 2023, through April 25, 2024.

Former CT Police Officer Faces New Burglary Charge
A former Connecticut police officer who has been charged in numerous crimes sprees has been arrested again for allegedly burglarizing a restaurant and bar and making off with $76,000 in cash and items.
Hartford County resident Patrick Hemingway, age 37, of Glastonbury, was charged on Wednesday, Feb. 28, for the Thursday, May 4, 2023 crime in Wethersfield.
According to the Wethersfield Police, an investigation by the Detective Bureau, found that Hemingway had allegedly broke into Lucky Lou's Bar and Grill at 222 Main St., and made off with the cash and items.

A recall has been issued for thousands of pounds of ground beef because it may be contaminated with a foreign object.
The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Sunday, Nov. 19 that Skyline Provisions, Inc. is recalling approximately 5,620 pounds of raw ground beef products that were produced and packed on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023.
The items were shipped to locations in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin.

A Connecticut woman has been arrested after a lengthy investigation determined that she purposefully hit her boyfriend with a car and was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, police said.

Stop & Shop Hosting Career Fair To Fill Hundreds Of Jobs At 34 CT Locations
Supermarket chain Stop & Shop will host a one-day career fair to fill hundreds of open positions at its Connecticut stores on Saturday, Sept. 23.
On-the-spot interviews will be held at 34 locations across Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties for permanent, part-time store and e-commerce positions, the company announced.
Pay starts at $15 an hour, including union positions in the bakery, deli, grocery, seafood, produce, and pharmacy departments.

Tornado Watch Issued For Much Of Region, With 60 MPH Wind Gusts, Hail Also Possible
As a slow-moving storm system barrels through the Northeast, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for much of the region until 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
It includes parts of southeastern New York -- Long Island, as well as Westchester, and Putnam counties -- as well as all eight counties in Connecticut, and the following counties in Massachusetts: Berkshire, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, and Worcester.

Connecticut Man Dies At Rhode Island Beach, Police Say
A Connecticut man died after his body was found floating in the water at a Rhode Island beach.
Hartford County resident Frank Sievel, age 74, of Farmington, was pulled from the ocean around 12:45 p.m. Friday, July 7 at the Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island.
According to Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella, lifeguards pulled Sievel, who was unresponsive, from the water and began life-saving measures.
He was transported to the Westerly Hospital and was pronounced dead, the chief said.
