Bridgeport Inmate Strangled, Death Rule Homicide, ME Says
A Connecticut man who was arrested for violation of probation was strangled in a cell in a Fairfield County jail.
Steven Bailey, age 43, of New Haven, was found dead in a Bridgeport Correctional Center cell around 7 a.m. on Sunday, May 26, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Milford Police had arrested Bailey on Wednesday, March 20, and he was being held for violation of probation on a prior conviction of obscenity with a minor.
State Police said after being found, Bailey was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, where he was pronounced dead.

46-Year-Old Felon Nabbed Again For Multiple Robberies In Fairfield County, Police Say
A man who has served time in prison for armed robberies has been nabbed again for alleged multiple robberies in Fairfield County.
Jorge Ruiz, age 46, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16 for multiple armed robberies that occurred in Bridgeport. He was also wanted for armed robberies in Stratford and Naugatuck.
At the time of his arrest, Ruiz had an outstanding warrant for an armed robbery that occurred at Sergio’s Pizza located in Bridgeport at 780 Madison Ave., on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in which he was armed with a Mac 10/Uzi-type firearm, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran, of the Bridgeport Police.

A Fairfield County man who was a person of interest in the death of a 2-year-old boy whose body was found buried in a city park has been captured.
Edgar Ismalej-Gomez, age 26, of Stamford, was arrested by Stamford Police in a taxi early Tuesday, Jan. 3, after an exhaustive search by officers who went door to door and business to business searching for the alleged child killer, according to Stamford Police Chief Timothy Shaw.
The department was led to the child's body after receiving a phone call on Monday, Jan. 2, regarding a kidnapping and a child buried at Cummings Park in Stamford.

After a months-long investigation, a Fairfield County man has been arrested for an alleged dangerous daytime shooting that put dozens of residents in jeopardy.
Kenneth Jeffries, age 25, of Norwalk, was arrested Friday, Dec. 10, for the Tuesday, Sept. 7 stalking shooting on Summer Street in Stamford.
According to Capt. Richard Conklin, of the Stamford Police, Jeffries fired five gunshots at two men walking in the parking lot at 920 Summer St. around 3:30 p.m.

Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Hit-Run Crash In Fairfield County, Police Say
A Fairfield County man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist dead, lying in the roadway.
Stamford Police arrested a city man on Thursday, Aug. 12, who was involved in the fatal collision on Friday, Nov. 6 that left a 19-year-old dead, according to authorities.
The crash took place around 10:30 p.m. when the victim, Stamford resident Michael Bajus, was riding his bicycle northbound on Harvard Avenue when he was struck by a 2005 Cadillac, throwing him off his bike and onto the roadway, Stamford PD Sgt. Jeffrey Booth.

Duo Busted With Large Gun Stash During Raid In Fairfield County, Police Say
Two men were busted with drugs and guns during a warrant raid in Fairfield County.
Jamar Traylor, age 20, and Michael Lockhart, age 21, both of Bridgeport, were arrested on Tuesday, June 1, by Bridgeport Task Force officers working in conjunction with Adult Probation, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management.
The bust went down after Task Force officers received credible information that Traylor was in possession of several illegal firearms along with high-capacity magazines.

A Fairfield County man on probation was allegedly busted with a loaded gun after being stopped for driving 115 mph on I-95.
Giovanni Candelario, 27, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Saturday, Jan. 9, after his white 2014 Acura IIx20, was spotted traveling in excess of 115 mph and weaving through traffic on Route 8 South, south of Exit 8 in Bridgeport, said the Connecticut State Police.
