Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DUI, CT State Police Say
A man driving the wrong way on a roadway in the region has been accused of driving while under the influence on Thanksgiving Day morning.
At about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, Connecticut State Police in Windham County at Troop D in Danielson said multiple 911 calls reported a black SUV, displaying a Massachusetts registration, traveling southbound, at a high rate of speed, in the northbound lanes of I-395, in Plainfield.

One person was killed in a large, early morning apartment fire in Connecticut.
The blaze broke out in Windham County around 12:40 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 17 in Moosup.
Members of the Plainfield Police responded to the area of Moosup Gardens Apartments on Gorman Street for a report of a structure fire involving multiple apartment units, police officials said.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that there was potential entrapment of residents within the affected apartments of Building 5, police said.

CT Man Nabbed For Sexual Assault Of Minor, Police Say
A Connecticut man, who has been hiding from the police, was arrested on a warrant for alleged sexual assault of a minor.
Windham County resident Gillan R. Gardner, age 47, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 24, after he was found at an area park.
Gardner, of Plainfield, had an active warrant stemming from a November incident in which a juvenile girl reported he had inappropriate sexual contact with her, said Plainfield Chief of Police Mario A. Arriaga.

The number of “red" communities in Connecticut has reached 100, according to the most recent state data, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Infection rates have been rising in Connecticut dramatically. There are now 100 cities and towns with the highest daily averages of newly reported COVID-19 cases.
Last week, Thursday, Nov. 5, there were 67 red communities.
