Police have identified a 76-year-old man who died at the hospital after falling into Candlewood Lake in Fairfield County, authorities announced. In Brookfield, Wayne Pogers was reported missing to police shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 after he had not been seen by his wife for an extended period of time. State officials have released the name of a Connecticut man who drowned while attempting to reach a lost paddle while kayaking. The incident took place in New Haven County at Quonnipaug Lake in Guilford on Sunday, May 23. A 16-year-old boy drowned while swimming with friends in a Connecticut pond. The incident took place in New London County around 4:40 p.m., Saturday, May 21 in Lyme. A missing kayaker died after his vessel capsized while he was reaching for a lost paddle, authorities said. A Long Island man drowned after he fell into a swimming pool while shoveling snow from the nor'easter that moved through the region. Southold Town Police said the man was a senior citizen from the Suffolk County hamlet of Cutchogue, in the Town of Southold on the north fork of Long Island, according to the Suffolk Times. A Connecticut teen drowned at a state park over the weekend while swimming with friends. The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 in New London County at the Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, said Will Healey, of the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The body of a drowning victim has been recovered in northern Connecticut near the Massachusetts border. A woman whose body was pulled from a river in Fairfield County has died. The 41-year-old Bridgeport woman was found floating early Friday, July 23, in the area of the Pequonnock River in Trumbull between White Plains Road and Quarry Road, said police.
