Woman Charged In Connection With Fairfield County Overdose Death, Police Say
A Connecticut woman has been arrested in connection with an overdose death in Fairfield County three years ago.
Ebony Thomas, age 40, of Derby, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 4, for selling the drugs associated with the death of a 48-year-old man in Shelton on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.
According to Bango, Shelton Police responded to a downtown residence for the untimely death of a 47-year-old man. Evidence was recovered at the scene and an autopsy was performed, and the manner of death was determined to be a drug overdose.

Two Hospitalized Following Fire At Home In Fairfield County
Two people were hospitalized following an early morning house fire in Fairfield County.
The fire began around 2:42 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 10, at a house on Hawley Road, in Shelton, said the Shelton Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a large volume of smoke coming from the home, with the fire located in the basement, the department said.
As firefighters worked to douse the flames, other members conducted a search of the home for victims, and additional fire spread. No victims were located and a minor fire extension was found to the first floor.

A Connecticut man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and being ejected after hitting railroad tracks along Route 8, said Connecticut State Police.
New Haven County resident Jonathan Vazquez, age 24, of Derby, was killed around 1 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 4, while traveling northbound on Route 8 near Beacon Falls, said state police.
According to state police, For an unknown reason, Vazquez lost control of his Honda Accord and veered off the roadway to the right.

Police Identify Two Men Shot, Killed At Fairfield County Sports Bar
Police have released the identities of two men gunned down at a former popular Fairfield County sports bar.
The victims of the homicides that occurred on Sunday, Dec. 20, at Mango'z Sports Bar in Bridgeport were Jaheim Warren, age 19, of Derby, and Andrew Stephenson, 24 of Bridgeport, said Captain Brian Fitzgerald.
Both men were likely shot as the result of an ongoing dispute, Fitzgerald said.

The number of “red" communities in Connecticut has reached 100, according to the most recent state data, Thursday, Nov. 12.
Infection rates have been rising in Connecticut dramatically. There are now 100 cities and towns with the highest daily averages of newly reported COVID-19 cases.
Last week, Thursday, Nov. 5, there were 67 red communities.
And the week before that, Oct. 29, there were 30.

Connecticut Man Accused Of Killing Ex During Custody Battle Is Captured
Police have arrested a man who is being charged with murdering his ex less than a week ago.
The man allegedly killed 20-year-old Rosali Violet Acquefreda during an ongoing child custody fight for their 3-year-old son, according to the New York Post.
Andre LeFrancois, 22, of Ansonia, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 2, and charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor, police said. He is being held on a $750,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Milford Superior Court the following day.
