29-Year-Old From Westchester Dies After Crash In Fairfield County A 29-year-old from Westchester County is dead following a crash in Fairfield County.  It happened around 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 6, on Route 8 in Shelton, said the Connecticut State Police.  According to state police, Erzsebet Menczel, age 45, of Derby, was driving a Honda CR-V and crashed into John Mateo Oliver, of Yonkers, who was driving a BMW motorcycle. Oliver was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead on the scene. The crash closed Route 8 for several hours during an investigation. Man Critical Following Shooting At Fairfield County AutoZone A Connecticut man is in critical condition after being shot in the parking lot of an area AutoZone. Fairfield County Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash A Fairfield County man was killed in an overnight crash on Route 8 in New Haven County. It happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in Derby, according to state police. Jonathan Perez, age 36, of Bridgeport, was traveling northbound at the Exit 18 off-ramp when his 2021 Hyundai Sonata left the roadway at a high rate of speed and struck a tree, said police.
