DNA Helps Nab 20-Year-Old In Darien Car Theft Years Later, Police Say A 20-year-old Waterbury man has been arrested more than two years after allegedly stealing a car in Fairfield County. Rahquel Cranford was apprehended Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Stamford Superior Court on an arrest warrant stemming from a car theft in Darien in September 2021, according to Darien Police. Officers were called on Sept. 9, 2021 for a stolen vehicle in Darien on Long Neck Point Road. The car was found later that day in Waterbury. The wreck happened Sunday, Sept. 3, in Darien on Hollow Tree Ridge Road near Allwood Road, according to Darien Police. An investigation found that Griffin Makovsky, of Norwalk, was speeding and ran a stop sign before crashing over a rock wall and striking a tree. On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Fairfield County resident Courtenay Evans, age 26, turned herself in for the incident, which happened in July 2023, according to Darien County Police. Evans, who lives in Darien, reportedly called 911 on July 23, 2023, to report that a house was on fire across the street from her home on Chasmars Pond Road. The Fairfield County incident happened in July 2023 in Darien, at the Whole Foods store located on Ledge Road.
