No, this isn't some Hollywood hunk's hokum over politics. The "Pretty Woman" star — who recently sold his Connecticut estate — is leaving the country to be closer to family.

The 75-year-old's wife Alejandra Silva is from La Coruña, Spain, and he wants to live closer to his in-laws, according to an interview he gave earlier this year to Vanity Fair Spain

“For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture,” Gere told the magazine in April. “She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.”

Gere and his 41-year-old wife married in 2018 and have two young children. The family had lived in Fairfield County for the past two years. He didn't give a timetable for their move abroad.

The "An Officer and a Gentleman" star sold the 32-acre New Canaan property, located at 82 Brookwood Lane, for $10.75 million last month, according to the town's property records.

Gere still has his New York home home in Westchester County so it appears he will keep some presence in the United States.

Gere purchased the New Canaan home for $10.8 million through the Kensho Trust in July 2022. He had intended to turn part of the property into a farm and harvest mushrooms, honey, and vegetables in addition to having chickens and goats, according to NBC

He bought the home from Grammy-winning singer-songwriters Paul Simon and Edie Brickell. The couple had lived at the house for 17 years.
