CT Man Accused Of Stealing Catalytic Converter From Car At CT Red Roof Inn

A 32-year-old man was arrested and accused of stealing a catalytic converter from a victim's vehicle at a Connecticut hotel.

Saul Melendez, of New Britain, turned himself in to police on Tuesday, March 8, according to the Milford Police Department.

Police responded to a report of a catalytic converter theft in New Haven County at the Red Roof Inn, located at 10 Rowe Ave. in Milford, on Tuesday, Dec. 28, authorities said.

The victim reportedly interrupted the suspects while they were trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle, and a suspect displayed a firearm.

An arrest warrant was issued for Melendez, who was identified as one of the suspects following an investigation, police said.

Authorities said Melendez was charged with:

  • First-degree robbery
  • First-degree conspiracy to commit robbery
  • Fifth-degree larceny
  • Fifth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny

He was released on $50,000 bond, and his court appearance was scheduled for Monday, April 4, police said.
