Norwalk Woman Driving Wrong Way On I-95 Charged With DUI

A 34-year-old Connecticut woman was busted for allegedly driving under the influence after she was stopped driving in the wrong direction on I-95.

Fairfield County resident Kelsey McManus, of Norwalk, was charged around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20 in New Haven County in Milford, said the Connecticut State Police.

According to state police, troopers responded to the area of Exit No. 39 in Milford for a report of a silver Subaru Forester driving south in the northbound lanes.

As troopers were pulling over McManus they were advised the Subrau had struck another vehicle. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

After being stopped, troopers observed that McManus was exhibiting signs of possible impairment, and she agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which were not performed to standard, state police said.

McManus was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving the wrong way on a divided highway
  • Reckless endangerment 
  • Interfering with officer/resisting.

She was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Milford Superior Court, on Thursday, Sept. 21.
