Ronald Boykin, 65, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 20, and charged with sexual assault in the first degree and trafficking in persons, according to Milford police.

Officers responded to a motel in Milford after the victim, who was being held in a room, found a way to use a phone to contact authorities, police said.

The woman told police that Boykin kept her confined in the motel for nearly three weeks. During that time, he controlled her movements, fed her only once every few days, and physically assaulted her if she disobeyed him, police said.

Boykin allegedly forced the woman to go on "dates" with other men and confiscated all the money she earned, police added.

Following his arrest, Boykin was held on a $175,000 bond and is awaiting further court proceedings.
